Ground-Source Heat Pumps: Its Future is Now!
Welcome
Welcome to the Long Island Geothermal Energy Organization (LI-GEO) web site.
We are a nonprofit association specifically interested in promoting the use of ground-source heat pumps to heat and cool buildings on Long Island. Other terms used are “geoexchange” or “geothermal” heating and cooling. We will use this latter term.
When choosing a heating and air conditioning system, look into geothermal heating and cooling!
How We Can Help You
Contractors and consumers are stakeholders in keeping Long Island healthy and affordable.
Contractors: Do you want to install the most affordable indoor climate systems? We bring a consistent, cohesive and practical approach to geothermal heating and cooling.
Consumers: Do you want to lower your heating and cooling bills? LI-GEO introduces you to the benefits of geothermal heating and cooling. It is the most affordable technology available.

WRITE YOUR STATE SENATOR AND ASSEMBLY MEMBER TODAY TO SUPPORT GEOTHERMAL BILL! On January 9, 2013, New York State Senator Maziarz introduced a bill to amend the tax law to exempt both sellers and purchasers of geothermal systems from sales and use taxes for materials. The same day, New York State Assembly Member Jaffee introduced an identical bill to the Assembly. This legislation will make geothermal heating and cooling systems more affordable and thus more economically attractive to all NYers. Please write to your NYS representatives to show your support of these bills. See Legislative Update for more information....
How is a geothermal heating and cooling system green? By concentrating naturally existing heat—rather than producing it through combustion—geothermal heat pumps maintain a comfortable indoor temperature. Since this is heat absorbed from the Sun by the Earth, it is a clean, renewable and highly efficient technology. Geothermal heating and cooling is finally gaining wide acceptance in both residential and commercial buildings....
