Welcome to the Long Island Geothermal Energy Organization (LI-GEO) web site.
We are a nonprofit association specifically interested in promoting the use of ground-source heat pumps to heat and cool buildings on Long Island. Other terms used are “geoexchange” or “geothermal” heating and cooling. We will use this latter term.
When choosing a heating and air conditioning system, look into geothermal heating and cooling!
How We Can Help You

Green How is a geothermal heating and cooling system green? By concentrating naturally existing heat—rather than producing it through combustion—geothermal heat pumps maintain a comfortable indoor temperature. Since this is heat absorbed from the Sun by the Earth, it is a clean, renewable and highly efficient technology. Geothermal heating and cooling is finally gaining wide acceptance in both residential and commercial buildings....Read More
