Utility Rebates

On Long Island the primary source of utility rebates for geothermal heating and cooling is the PSEG Long Island (PSEG LI).

Discuss with your geothermal heating and cooling contractor for how to best apply the PSEG LI rebate. You may be able to assign the rebate to your contractor. Assigning the rebate reduces your upfront out-of-pocket costs and saves you waiting for the check to come in the mail.

If your contractor does not offer this option, or you prefer to receive it directly, most likely you will receive a rebate check from PSEG LI after the certification process is complete, about 6-8 weeks.

RESIDENTIAL PROPERTIES:

The PSEG LI rebate amount for residential properties is the same whether the geothermal heating and cooling is for a new building or a replacement of a conventional system in an existing building. PSEG LI currently does not have a limit on the number of heat pump units they will rebate per house.

The PSEG LI residential geothermal rebate application as well as program information can be found here. All rebate applications for residences need to have a Manual J load calculation to show correct unit sizing. Replacement geothermal units need to be at least 5 years old, or at least 1 full EER level higher than the existing unit to be eligible for the rebate.

The rebate amount for the 2014 PSEG LI Geothermal and GeoColumn® Program are:
